Kristin Towers-RowlesFollowing sold-out performances in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, stage star Kristin Towers-Rowles will bring her critically acclaimed cabaret show, A Lovely Lineage, to the El Portal Theatre’s Monroe Forum in North Hollywood. With musical direction by Katie Clark and directed by Ovation Award-winner Cate Caplin, there will be one performance only on Sunday, October 18 at 7pm.

A Lovely Lineage captures the historic Broadway and Hollywood lineage of Kristin Towers-Rowles, starting with her grandmother, the legendary Kathryn Grayson. Ms. Grayson was an MGM darling and a Hollywood pioneer having starred in some of the most beloved movie musicals of the 1950s including Kiss Me, Kate and Show Boat. The lineage does not stop there — Kristin’s grandfather was the dashing and talented Broadway leading man Johnnie Johnston; her mother, Patricia Towers, was a Las Vegas headliner; and her father is the prolific character actor Robert Towers. In A Lovely Lineage, Kristin celebrates her incredible family legacy by performing musical numbers from such beloved Broadway musicals as Follies, Wicked, She Loves Me, and Kiss Me, Kate, to name only a few. Opera and musical theatre singer Jahmal Bakare joins Kristin on stage for several numbers.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center Presents LADY RIZO in Concert Celebrated Cabaret Artist Makes Renberg Theatre Debut Thursday, October 30 at 8pm

The one-night-only concert is on Thursday, October 30 at 8pm. The “Cabaret Superstar” (New York Magazine), comedienne, and chanteuse revives the genre by creating vintage arrangements and theatrical explorations of pop songs from every decade. In 2005, Lady Rizo (née Amelia Zirin-Brown) co-created the cult CaBurlesque spectacular, Lady Rizo & the Assettes. In January 2010 she won her first Grammy Award on a duet with acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma that was released on a holiday album featuring Diana Krall, James Taylor, and Alison Krauss, among others. Lady Rizo also sang and recorded with multi-platinum recording artist Moby and was nominated for an MVPA for the choreography in the video for the single “New York, New York,” featuring Debbie Harry. A proud recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in 2010, Lady Rizo has performed her sold-out show monthly at Joe’s Pub since 2009 and was commissioned for a full-length piece by the Public Theater which premiered as part of the New York Voices series in November 2011. Lillias WhiteChris Isaacson Presents and Upright Cabaret proudly present Broadway diva Lillias White: The Night After The Tonys, as she belts out the best of Broadway and Jazz, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, for one performance only, on Monday, June 11. Showtime is 8pm, with cocktail and dinner service beginning at 6:30pm.

Lillias White made her Broadway debut in Barnum (1981). Other Broadway credits include the 1987 revival of Dreamgirls, Cats, Once On This Island, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Chicago, and The Life, in which Ms. White gave a performance as a no-nonsense, world weary hooker, that won her the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Most recently, she received a 2010 Tony Award nomination for her portrayal of Funmilayo in the hit musical Fela! Ms. White has performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and she has appeared in concert at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. She has toured internationally with her solo show From Brooklyn to Broadway, and she has been seen on television on such shows as Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, NYPD Blue, and Sesame Street (for which she won an Emmy Award).

Chris Isaacson Presents has created, produced and promoted over 450 events since the company was formed in 2004. From small clubs to major theatres, Isaacson has produced some of the most influential stars of this generation including Adam Lambert (American Idol), Lea Michele (Glee, Spring Awakening), Neil Patrick Harris (CBS’s How I Met Your Mother), Grammy Award nominee Natasha Bedingfield, three-time Grammy nominee Taylor Dayne, Grammy winner Paula Cole, and more. Isaacson is also founder of LA’s renowned Upright Cabaret, which has been redefining the cabaret milieu for a new generation of audiences since 2005. Upright Cabaret celebrates old style cabaret while simultaneously bringing young Broadway and young Hollywood together in a live setting.
