NEWS RELEASE ▪︎ TONY AWARD-WINNER LEVI KREIS at the LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER ▪︎ SATURDAY, AUGUST 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s
Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center
Presents

LEVI KREIS
Broadway at the Keys

Saturday, August 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced a special one-night-only concert by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter/actor Levi Kreis in his show Broadway at the Keys. Kreis will take the stage at the Center’s Renberg Theatre on Saturday, August 19 at 8pm. The intimate Renberg performance will feature Kreis at the piano, delivering renditions of songs from Broadway hits as varied as Sweeney Todd, Smokey Joe’s Café, Rent, Aladdin, and Million Dollar Quartet.

Kreis took Broadway by storm in 2010 with his show-stopping, Tony Award-winning performance as Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet, about which the Hollywood Reporter wrote, “The charismatic Kreis is hugely entertaining (and one hell of a pianist).” The New York Times agreed, “Mr. Kreis’s Lewis has a brash goofball charm and his thrashing keyboard style is an impressive approximation of Mr. Lewis’s febrile dexterity.” In addition to the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, Kreis was awarded an Outer Critics Circle Award and he also received a Drama League Award nomination. He also arranged some of the music for Million Dollar Quartet.

A six-year-old Levi Kreis came home from kindergarten graduation after hearing Elgar’s “Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1” and started playing it by ear on the piano with both hands. Soon he was writing his own original classical compositions. Kreis recorded his first album at age 12 and began a life of touring. As a singer/songwriter his piano pop records have been featured in key moments on numerous network television shows including The Vampire Diaries, Sons of Anarchy, So You Think You Can Dance, Mob Wives, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, as well as several films.

With six albums to date and a 2009 OutMusic Award for “Stained Glass Window” (the theme song for the Del Shores film Southern Baptist Sissies), Kreis has built a loyal following that continues to expand the reach of his own label imprint, Vision 9 Records. He is currently recording his seventh album which is slated for release in November 2017. For a complete biography, visit www.levikreis.com.

General admission tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre or by phone at (323) 860-7300. Net proceeds from all ticket sales will support the full range of free and low-cost programs and services offered by the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Renowned singing sensations The Harmony Boys are presenting their annual yuletide fundraising concert to benefit their charity “Force Feed the World” (in which they shove food and their personal, cultural, and religious beliefs down the throats of the less fortunate during the holiday season). It’s a singing, dancing, musical comedy extravaganza brimming with heartfelt but provocative satire, at once evoking nostalgia for our nation’s past while dissecting its many shortcomings of the present day.

The Harmony Boys are (in alphabetical order) Michael Hoy, Aaron Matijasic, Gabriel Oliva, and Al Rahn. The design team includes production designer Alexa Camargo, choreographer Jen Oundjian, and musical director Ben Stanton. A Harmony Boys Christmas is written and directed by Aaron Matijasic. Thanksgiving is a not all-the-way true, but sometimes painfully so, dysfunctional family comedy. Chloe Patterson has invited her perfect fiancé to what she will make sure is the perfect Thanksgiving, despite her very imperfect family. She’s got a solid plan in place to combat any and all hints of dysfunction, providing for every possible contingency — except the unexpected dinner guest: a very unfiltered, Las Vegas stripper. Scabs are picked, secrets are revealed, and fights erupt as this group struggles to make it through another holiday unscathed.

Playwright Tiffany Cascio hails from Sacramento and lives in Los Angeles. Her plays have been performed in Los Angeles, Chicago, and on the radio. Her short play Take Your Daughter to Work was just selected for PlayGround LA’s Best of PlayGround Season 5, and her plays Origin Story and About Your Mother have been published in their Best of PlayGround anthologies. She also works as a television producer. For more: tiffanycascio.com.

Tickets for Thanksgiving are $15 and may be obtained online at http://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/4549 or by phone at (323) 455-4585. The Lounge Theatre is located at 6201 Santa Monica Boulevard (just east of Vine at El Centro), in Hollywood, 90038.
