Revelation is produced for the Elephant by David Fofi, Cheryl Huggins, Tara Norris, and Danielle Ozymandias.

Playwright Samuel Brett Williams is a winner of the Helen Merrill Emerging Playwright Award. His other plays include The Revival, The Woodpecker, and Derby Day. Williams’ plays have been developed and/or produced in such prestigious venues as the Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference, New York Theatre Workshop, Naked Angels, The Kennedy Center, Yale University, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and more.

There will be three lower-priced preview performances of Revelation on Tuesday, July 16, Wednesday, July 17, and Thursday, July 18 at 8pm, and opening is Friday, July 19 at 8pm. Announcing: Elephant Theatre Company Presents ‘Love Bites’ February 8 – March 7

ELEPHANT THEATRE COMPANY
PRESENTS
LOVE BITES
An Evening of Dysfunctional, Not-So-Romantic Short Plays

OPENS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8
FOUR WEEKS ONLY, THROUGH MARCH 2

ANTI-VALENTINE’S DAY EVENT, FEBRUARY 14 AT 8PM

The Elephant Theatre Company, David Fofi and Lindsay Allbaugh, Co-Artistic Directors, has announced it will present the 11th edition of LOVE BITES as a prelude to the Elephant’s much anticipated 2013 season of plays, which will be announced shortly. LOVE BITES will have one preview on Thursday, February 7, and opening is set for Friday, February 8 at 8pm. Over the years, the LOVE BITES short play festival has become a local ‘cult’ favorite.

LOVE BITES is a delicious assortment of short plays that explore love in all its miserable glory with humor and irreverence … the irresistible passion, the humiliating pitfalls, the euphoria, the anguish, and everything in between. The plays, which will be performed at the Elephant Space in Hollywood, are written by both company members and writers from around the country, and will be performed and directed by members of the Elephant Company.

The casts will include (in alphabetical order) Darryl Armbruster, Ben Belack, Eric Bunton, Colin Day, Nelson DelRosario, Etienne Eckert, Amelia French, Corby Griesenbeck, Laura Harman, Cheryl Huggins, Nikki McCauley, John Charles Meyer, Marco Naggar, Tara Norris, Maya Parish, Patricia Rae, and Sal Xuereb. The writers are (in alphabetical order) Deana Barone, John C. Davenport, Brett Hursey, Louis Jacobs, Mark Harvey Levine, Gloria Calderon Kellett, K. Alexa Mavromatis, and Nikki McCauley. The directors are (in alphabetical order) Lindsay Allbaugh, Brendan Farrell, David Fofi, Amelia French, Chris Game, Tony Gatto, Marisa O’Brien, and Max Williams.

Of an earlier production of LOVE BITES, Back Stage said, “… not for the faint of heart … superbly acted and ably directed. These pieces, whether surreal or true to life, make for a crisp evening of outrageous fun … leaves one exhausted and guiltily anticipating next year’s production.”

LOVE BITES will play one preview on Thursday, February 7 at 8pm, with opening set for Friday, February 8 at 8pm. The regular running schedule is Thursday and Friday at 8pm, and Saturday at 7pm. There will be two 10pm performances on Saturdays, February 9 and 16. The run ends March 2. General admission tickets are $20. There will also be a special Anti-Valentine’s Day event on Thursday, February 14 at 8pm, including sweet-and-naughty goodie bags and a champagne after party. Tickets for the Anti-Valentine’s Day event are $30.

To purchase tickets for regular performances and for the Anti-Valentine’s Day event, and for a complete listing of the festival plays, visit www.ElephantTheatre.org or call 855-663-6743. Announcing: Elephant Theatre Company’s “Baby Doll” By Tennessee Williams Opens 11/11/11

ELEPHANT THEATRE COMPANY
CONCLUDES 15TH SEASON WITH RARELY PRODUCED
BABY DOLL BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS
CAST AND CREW SET; REHEARSALS UNDERWAY

OPENS FRIDAY, 11/11/11 AT THE LILLIAN THEATRE
EXTENDED THRU JANUARY 22, 2012

baby dollThe Elephant Theatre Company, David Fofi and Lindsay Allbaugh, Co-Artistic Directors, in association with Double A Productions, has announced its production of Baby Doll by Tennessee Williams, directed and designed by Joel Daavid, at the Lillian Theatre in Hollywood. There will be one preview performance on November 10, with opening night set for Friday, November 11 at 8:00. Baby Doll will play a limited engagement through December 18 – extended through January 22, 2012.

Adapted by Williams from his own one-act play 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, the film was released in 1956, directed by Elia Kazan. At that time, it was labeled “notorious, salacious, revolting, steamy, lewd, suggestive, provocative, and morally repellent.” It was also nominated for four Academy Awards, including best adapted screenplay. Baby Doll is an effort to decode modern sexual politics; it is also a timely rehashing of the familiar struggle of America’s “everyman.” The story centers around the arranged marriage of a doltish and passionate owner of a Southern cotton gin, and his stunningly beautiful and tenacious virgin bride who stubbornly refuses to consummate their marriage until the day of her 20th birthday. Compounding this fiery battle of wills is the arrival of a crafty and dark Sicilian gin mill magnate who covets both the dolt’s wife and his business.

The cast of Baby Doll is Lulu Brud, Tony Gatto, Ronnie Marmo, and Jacque Lynn Colton, along with (in alphabetical order) Josh Benton, Dave Metz, Chloe Peterson, Bernadette Speakes, Yecenia Torres, Carl Wawrina, and Michael Wilkie. With set and lighting design by Joel Daavid, the costume design is by Noelle Raffy, and sound design is by Matt Richter. Original music is composed by Nick Block and movement choreography is by Adam Haas Hunter. The stage manager is Rebecca Schoenberg, and Baby Doll is produced for the Elephant and Double A Productions by David Fofi, Anita Lee, and Sean Thomas.

There will be one preview performance on Thursday, November 10 at 8pm. Opening night is Friday, 11/11/11 at 8:00. Admission is $15 for the preview, $25 for regular performances, and $30 for opening night, which includes a post-performance reception with the cast. The regular running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 7pm, and the engagement will run through December 18 – extended through January 22, 2012. There is no performance on Friday, November 25. Tickets are on sale now, and may be purchased by calling (323) 960-4420 or by reserving online at www.plays411.com/babydoll or www.elephanttheatrecompany.com.
