TCLA will once again perform planet Earth’s first staged concert production of the full The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie. As Bowie intended, additional hit songs will complete the entire musical saga.

TCLA is the largest group of trans and gender non-conforming people anywhere in the world who gather together regularly to raise their voices in song. Its performances are intended not only to empower its members, but also to change the way others see the transgender community. Since their founding in late 2015, TCLA has drawn attention to the trans community and trans issues through live performances, community engagement, and social and traditional media. With a strong belief that TCLA is uniquely positioned to offer the trans narrative in a truly significant and impactful way, its mission is to fiercely empower the transgender, non-binary, and intersex community to discover, love, develop, and use their voices to change the social ecology everywhere.

In its inaugural year, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles performed at the 2015 West Hollywood Transgender Day of Remembrance with Alexandra Billings and Our Lady J from Transparent; the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles’s (GMCLA) Fifth Annual Voice Awards; True Colors debut concert with TCLA, GMCLA, and Vox Femina; LA Pride, Long Beach Pride and TransPride LA; Kol Tikvah Temple; St. John’s Cathedral, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles (the first Trans chorus to perform in a Cathedral anywhere); the opening ceremony of LGBT Heritage Month with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and the LA City Council; the Williams Institute UniTy Awards with Laverne Cox; and Interscope Records’ song “Hands,” a musical tribute to benefit Orlando victims and LGBT organizations.
Artistic Director Lindsey Deaton is a conductor, guitarist, singer, speaker, and a fierce transgender and LGBTIQ youth advocate. NEWS RELEASE ▪︎ TONY AWARD-WINNER LEVI KREIS at the LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER ▪︎ SATURDAY, AUGUST 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s
Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center
Presents

LEVI KREIS
Broadway at the Keys

Saturday, August 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced a special one-night-only concert by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter/actor Levi Kreis in his show Broadway at the Keys. Kreis will take the stage at the Center’s Renberg Theatre on Saturday, August 19 at 8pm. The intimate Renberg performance will feature Kreis at the piano, delivering renditions of songs from Broadway hits as varied as Sweeney Todd, Smokey Joe’s Café, Rent, Aladdin, and Million Dollar Quartet.

Kreis took Broadway by storm in 2010 with his show-stopping, Tony Award-winning performance as Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet, about which the Hollywood Reporter wrote, “The charismatic Kreis is hugely entertaining (and one hell of a pianist).” The New York Times agreed, “Mr. Kreis’s Lewis has a brash goofball charm and his thrashing keyboard style is an impressive approximation of Mr. Lewis’s febrile dexterity.” In addition to the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, Kreis was awarded an Outer Critics Circle Award and he also received a Drama League Award nomination. He also arranged some of the music for Million Dollar Quartet.

A six-year-old Levi Kreis came home from kindergarten graduation after hearing Elgar’s “Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1” and started playing it by ear on the piano with both hands. Soon he was writing his own original classical compositions. Kreis recorded his first album at age 12 and began a life of touring. As a singer/songwriter his piano pop records have been featured in key moments on numerous network television shows including The Vampire Diaries, Sons of Anarchy, So You Think You Can Dance, Mob Wives, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, as well as several films.

With six albums to date and a 2009 OutMusic Award for “Stained Glass Window” (the theme song for the Del Shores film Southern Baptist Sissies), Kreis has built a loyal following that continues to expand the reach of his own label imprint, Vision 9 Records. He is currently recording his seventh album which is slated for release in November 2017. For a complete biography, visit www.levikreis.com.

General admission tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre or by phone at (323) 860-7300. Net proceeds from all ticket sales will support the full range of free and low-cost programs and services offered by the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER’S RENBERG THEATRE
FOR A SUMMERTIME COMIC FREE-FOR-ALL

TWO NIGHTS ONLY!
Saturday, July 23 at 8pm and
Sunday, July 24 at 7pm

The Mismatch GameIt’s time once again to “get ready to match the stars” with a new edition of Dennis Hensley’s The MisMatch Game, the show the Los Angeles Times calls, “witty, ribald … an adventure in surrealist era bending.” The side-splitting parody of the 70s game show returns to the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Renberg Theatre for two hilarious nights on Saturday, July 23 at 8pm and Sunday, July 24 at 7pm.

The cast on Saturday 7/23 will include (in alphabetical order) Julie Brown (Kim Kardashian), Rachel Butera (Rosie O’Donnell), Danny Casillas (Reba Areba), Jackie Clarke (Elizabeth Taylor), Nicol Paone (Arianna Huffington), and Felix Pire (Ricardo Montalban). On Sunday 7/24 the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Jackie Beat (Bea Arthur), Drew Droege (Tanya Roberts), Maile Flanagan (Danny Bonaduce), Tom Lenk (Zooey Deschanel), and Oscar Quintero (Kay Sedia). All appearances are subject to availability. Visit www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre for updates.

Creator, producer, and host Dennis “Gene Rayburn” Hensley and company are once again generously donating the proceeds to benefit the Center’s array of free and low-cost services. Since its debut in 2004,The MisMatch Game has raised well over $100,000 for the Los Angeles LGBT Center. With kitschy prizes for volunteer contestants pulled from the audience, it’s time to dig out that leisure suit for another run of the perennial cult favorite.

The MisMatch Game regularly fills the house at its irregularly scheduled gigs at the Renberg Theatre. Audiences keep coming back for the razor’s edge improv and the racy, anarchic, and decidedly un-PC wit and wildness. The Advocate honoredThe MisMatch Game with a “10 Best Theatre” citation that said, “This recurring Los Angeles happening re-imagines the ‘70s TV game show The Match Game with full-camp press and excellent sub-lebrity impersonations.”

General admission tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre or by phone at (323) 860-7300. The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Renberg Theatre is located at 1125 N. McCadden Place (one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard), in Hollywood, 90038. Free onsite parking is available.
