Blackbird LOGOA new production of Blackbird by David Harrower has been announced for a limited run at GTC Burbank. Featuring Candace Hammer and Eric Larson and directed by Jeremy Adrianne Lelliott, the limited run opens August 19 and runs through September 17 only.

Scottish playwright David Harrower’s drama won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and had a critically acclaimed run on Broadway last year. Inspired in part by the crimes of sex offender Toby Studebaker (though in no way a literal dramatization of actual events) the play depicts a young woman meeting a middle-aged man 15 years after being sexually abused by him when she was 12 years old.

Candace Hammer has appeared as Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Wendla in Spring Awakening at Playwrights Horizons, and Gower in Pericles at RADA. Her TV work includes This is Us, Criminal Minds, House of Cards, Masters of Sex, Girlboss, NCIS LA, Aquarius, Lost, and Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life. Hammer’s film credits include Rocket Science (Sundance), From Within (Tribeca), and Eugene.

Eric Larson co-produced and played the lead in Donald Margulies’ play Time Stands Still which was awarded an Encore! Producers’ Award in the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. He was a Drama-Logue Award-winner for the original Los Angeles stage production of Toe to Toe at the Cast Theatre. Larson recently performed the lead role in Little Darling, an American Film Institute thesis project, and he starred in Adagio, a 2016 Arlington International Film Festival Best Short Film Winner.

Jeremy Adrianne Lelliott is the artistic director of Coeurage Theatre Company. His directing highlights include The Two Kids That Blow Shit Up for Artists at Play, and Vieux Carré, The Woodsman, and Andronicus for Coeurage. He has appeared in productions at The Pasadena Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, Chance Theatre, Laguna Playhouse, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, and MainStreet Theatre Company, as well as with Disney on Broadway. Lelliott serves on the LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Rules Committee.

Andrew Schmedake is the lighting designer, Donna Eschelman is movement coordinator, and Isabella Petrini is producer.

Opening is set for Saturday, August 19 at 8pm. The running schedule is Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through September 17.
