Announcing: ‘R + J Equal Love’ Will Play Six Performances Only at the Well in Downtown Los Angeles

INNER CIRCLE THEATRE PRESENTS

R + J EQUAL LOVE

A SAME-SEX EXPLORATION OF SHAKESPEARE’S
CLASSIC LOVE STORY ROMEO AND JULIET
ADAPTED BY CASEY KRINGLEN AND LIZ NOLAN

SET FOR SIX PERFORMANCES ONLY
FEBRUARY 14 — 22
AT THE WELL IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

R+J LOGOInner Circle Theatre has announced that R + J Equal Love, a new same-sex exploration of William Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo and Juliet has been set for six performances only at The Well in downtown Los Angeles. Co-adapted by Casey Kringlen and Liz Nolan and directed by Kringlen, the limited run will open on Friday, February 14 at 9pm and continue on Saturday 2/15, Sunday 2/16, Thursday 2/20, Friday 2/21 and Saturday 2/22 with all performances at 8pm.

R + J Equal Love is an abridged, fast-paced same-sex exploration of Shakespeare’s classic love story. A depressed yet goofily charming Romeo collides with a resistant yet deeply emotional Juliet twice at each performance; both lesbian and gay perspectives are explored. The world is modern, the families of Romeo and Juliet fight in the streets, and LGBTQ relationships abound. The words are all Shakespeare’s, and although the end of this classic story is known by most, the jovial love shared on stage is worth rooting for. In a time when the polarization of our world leaves many young people feeling desperate and isolated, this tragedy of forbidden love leading to self-loathing and self-abuse occurs with frightening regularity.

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Carmine DiBenedetto, Elena Campbell-Martinez, Liz Fenning, Justin Alastair, Teena Pugliese, and Wes Mann. Creative producer is Matthew G. Hill.

R + J Equal Love opens on Friday, February 14 at 9pm. Performances continue on Saturday 2/15, Sunday 2/16, Thursday 2/20, Friday 2/21 and Saturday 2/22 at 8pm. General admission tickets are $32 and may be purchased online at http://innercircletheatre.ticketleap.com/t/ICTPress/ or by phone at (818) 953-2227.

The Well is located at 1006 S. Olive Street in downtown Los Angeles, 90015. Street and lot parking are available.
