AN ENCORE (PLUS!) EVENT
“ILove99 THE MUSICAL!”
DIRECTED BY DANIEL HENNING
AT THE DRAGONFLY IN HOLLYWOOD
TUESDAY, MARCH 24 AT 8PM

I heart 99 - small logoSixth Avenue has announced an encore of its “ILove99 The Musical!” cabaret event to save Los Angeles intimate theatre. Produced by Adam Silver and directed by Daniel Henning, the curtain will go up once again, featuring returning and additional performers, on Tuesday, March 24 at 8pm at The Dragonfly in Hollywood.

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Tisha Terrasini Banker, Burglars of Hamm, Parvesh Cheena, Deborah S. Craig, Frances Fisher, Sandra Mae Frank, Tom Lenk, Kelly Lester, Constance Jewell Lopez, Austin McKenzie, Rebecca Metz, Nicole Parker, Jeff Perry, Amy Pietz, French Stewart, Kirsten Vangsness, and more. All performers are subject to availability.

Of the premiere “ILove99 The Musical!” event on March 10, Paul Birchall of StageRaw.com said, “[This show was] held together and bolstered by love, talent, and passion. It was also a program that crackled with fierce intelligence, with sketches and songs that melded irony, humor, and a smattering of rage, as performers from many of our local stages tried to make sense of a union that seems to want to pull the plug on an entire culture.”

Birchall continued, … “the philosophical core of the show turned on French Stewart’s commonsensical appraisal of Los Angeles small theatre. ‘The theatre is like farming,’ Stewart noted. ‘You don’t get paid for the seeds. You get paid for the fruit.’”

Pro99 is a collection of thousands of individual theatrical artists that have become a community choosing to work in intimate theatres (under 99 seats) in Los Angeles. The community includes professional actors, directors, writers, designers, stage managers, and producers. Many are proud members of Actors Equity Association and most are members of other unions as well. The Pro99 community believes it has the right to perform its crafts in an intimate and non-commercial setting and volunteer its talents in search of creative fulfillment. Admission to “ILove99 The Musical!” is free, but reservations are strongly suggested at www.6avenue.org. The Dragonfly is located at 6510 Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, 90038.

Written and performed Leguizamo-style, D’FunQT celebrates the joy of survival in an often intolerant world. As a queer boy/stud/trans person, D’Lo unapologetically uses his fluidly morphing form and spot-on timing to bring the fierce with the funny.

D’Lo‘s poetry and short stories have been published in various anthologies and academic journals including, most recently Desi Rap: Hip Hop and South Asia America, Experiments in a Jazz Aesthetic, and Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics. Along with touring colleges and universities with D’FaQTo Life, D’Lo tours Ramble-Ations: A One D’Lo Show, directed by Adelina Anthony, which received the NPN Creation Fund Grant inclusive of residencies in nine US cities with additional support from the Durfee Foundation Grant. D’FunQT has toured internationally (SF, NY, Manchester, UK, and a seven-city tour in India and Sri Lanka).

Looking for a really cool way to spend a Saturday night? For the ninth installment of the L.A. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Center’s Conversations with Coco — Miss Coco Peru’s series of live, unscripted interviews with celebrated performing artists — the L.A. drag legend welcomes the much loved Allison Janney to the Renberg Theatre. Like previous visits with stars like Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Charles Busch, Bea Arthur, and Liza Minnelli among others, the evening will feature film highlights of Janney’s career along with casual yet in-depth conversation.

Allison Janney is perhaps best known for her seven seasons as C.J. Cregg on The West Wing (six Emmy Award nominations, four wins), but her work on television dates all the way back to 1991! She currently stars on the CBS sitcom Mom (another Emmy), and for a recurring role on Showtime’s Masters of Sex she garnered a sixth Emmy. Janney has appeared in countless feature films, and her work on Broadway has earned her two Tony Award nominations, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Drama Desk Award.

Says Miss Coco, “Conversations with Coco is sort of like Inside the Actors Studio only a lot more fun!” Proceeds support the LALGBT Center’s array of free and low-cost services. Is there any question about where you need to be on March 7 at 8pm?

Conversations with Coco, with special guest Allison Janney, takes place Saturday, March 7 at The Village of Ed Gould Plaza at 1125 N. McCadden Place.
