NEWS RELEASE ▪︎ TONY AWARD-WINNER LEVI KREIS at the LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER ▪︎ SATURDAY, AUGUST 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s
Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center
Presents

LEVI KREIS
Broadway at the Keys

Saturday, August 19 at 8pm

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced a special one-night-only concert by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter/actor Levi Kreis in his show Broadway at the Keys. Kreis will take the stage at the Center’s Renberg Theatre on Saturday, August 19 at 8pm. The intimate Renberg performance will feature Kreis at the piano, delivering renditions of songs from Broadway hits as varied as Sweeney Todd, Smokey Joe’s Café, Rent, Aladdin, and Million Dollar Quartet.

Kreis took Broadway by storm in 2010 with his show-stopping, Tony Award-winning performance as Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet, about which the Hollywood Reporter wrote, “The charismatic Kreis is hugely entertaining (and one hell of a pianist).” The New York Times agreed, “Mr. Kreis’s Lewis has a brash goofball charm and his thrashing keyboard style is an impressive approximation of Mr. Lewis’s febrile dexterity.” In addition to the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, Kreis was awarded an Outer Critics Circle Award and he also received a Drama League Award nomination. He also arranged some of the music for Million Dollar Quartet.

A six-year-old Levi Kreis came home from kindergarten graduation after hearing Elgar’s “Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1” and started playing it by ear on the piano with both hands. Soon he was writing his own original classical compositions. Kreis recorded his first album at age 12 and began a life of touring. As a singer/songwriter his piano pop records have been featured in key moments on numerous network television shows including The Vampire Diaries, Sons of Anarchy, So You Think You Can Dance, Mob Wives, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, as well as several films.

With six albums to date and a 2009 OutMusic Award for “Stained Glass Window” (the theme song for the Del Shores film Southern Baptist Sissies), Kreis has built a loyal following that continues to expand the reach of his own label imprint, Vision 9 Records. He is currently recording his seventh album which is slated for release in November 2017. For a complete biography, visit www.levikreis.com.

General admission tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre or by phone at (323) 860-7300. Net proceeds from all ticket sales will support the full range of free and low-cost programs and services offered by the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Renberg Theatre is located at 1125 N. McCadden Place (one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard), in Hollywood, 90038. During construction of the Center’s new facility, free parking is limited. Please allow extra time to find parking, or choose public transportation or a ride service such as Lyft.
