I'd Rather Be a Girl...on Broadway!The Colony Theatre in Burbank has announced a four-performance run of I’d Enjoy Being a Girl … On Broadway! from September 14–17. Starring Mark C. Reis, the show is directed by Michele Lynch and features choreography by Lisa Mandel and musical direction by Scott Harlan.

Humorous, uplifting, and inspiring, I’d Enjoy Being a Girl … On Broadway! brings writer, performer, and dancer Mark C. Reis to the Colony with his solo show. Through an abundance of music and dance, the Broadway veteran explores how to continue surviving in his career and ponders how different his success in musical theatre might have been had he been a girl.

Mark C. Reis has worked from summer stock to Broadway with National Tours, European Tours, Radio City Music Hall, and Regional work in between. His many stage credits include productions of Fosse (Broadway), Jesus Christ Superstar, 42nd Street, Funny Girl, Paint Your Wagon (Goodspeed Musicals), Red, Hot and Blue (Paper Mill Playhouse), The Wizard of Oz (Tuacahn Amphitheatre), Elf (TUTS), Cabaret (Reprise), Chicago (several different productions and at the Hollywood Bowl), The Producers and The Wedding Singer (Musical Theatre West). Most recently Reis was seen in Mary Poppins at MTW and Spamalot with 3D Theatricals. He currently appears in the live Frozen show at Disneyland.

Said Reis, “I am thrilled to have my work included in the Colony’s It’s Showtime! series. I’ve always loved the theatre and dreamed of performing there. I never thought it could happen, but here I come!”

The running schedule for I’d Enjoy Being a Girl … On Broadway! is Thursday 9/14 at 8pm, Friday 9/15 at 8pm, Saturday 9/16 at 8pm, and Sunday 9/17 at 3pm. Thelma HoustonChris Isaacson Presents and the City of Los Angeles have announced that Grammy Award-winning recording artist and Motown legend Thelma Houston in her show My Motown Memories & More! has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 15 at 7:30pm at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. All previously purchased Ford Amphitheatre tickets will be honored for the new date.

Perhaps best known for her number one international hit “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” Thelma Houston takes her audience on a musical and inspirational journey that chronicles her illustrious career. Sharing intimate stories and behind-the-scenes adventures against a tapestry of more than 20 classic Motown hits, Houston performs songs originally recorded by Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and more, leading up to her iconic Grammy Award–winning number one pop song “Don’t Leave Me This Way.” After 50 years of performing, 23 studio albums, and winning a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Houston continues to celebrate her long and outstanding career. The concert will be directed by Iona Morris and choreographed by Damita Freeman. The musical director is Darrell Alston. Special guests are Quattrosound and Johnny Britt, and the evening will be hosted by KJLH 102.3FM Radio’s Lon McQ.

Paulo AndresTalent manager Paulo Andrés has been named The Blank Theatre’s new Board Chair, it was announced today by Daniel Henning, Founding Artistic Director.

Paulo Andrés is partner at Rothman/Andrés Entertainment, a boutique talent management company based in Studio City. The company serves a small, select group of working actors. His non-profit experience includes being a board member and eventual Board President for Common Ground (now called Venice Family Clinic). Andrés also served as a board member on Century of Compassion, an organization dedicated to making this century the most compassionate ever.

Said Founding Artistic Director Daniel Henning, “I am so looking forward to beginning this new journey with Paulo as The Blank’s Board Chair. His sensibilities and experience will help us reach new heights and new audiences. As he moves from board member to Chair, we are very lucky to have him on our team for this exciting time in our history.”
