PRESS RELEASE — FAKE RADIO PRESENTS “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE” — ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY, THURS 12/18 AT 8PM

FAKE RADIO
PRESENTS
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST
RAY ROMANO

AT THE STEVE ALLEN THEATER
ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, AT 8PM

It's a Wonderful LifeFake Radio, Los Angeles’s own purveyor of classic radio shows from The Golden Age, will present the classic script of It’s a Wonderful Life as a radio play for one performance only on Thursday, December 18 at 8pm at the Steve Allen Theater, it was announced today by artistic director David Koff. Emmy Award-winner Ray Romano is set to make a special guest appearance as Clarence the Angel.

Directed by Frank Capra and released on December 25, 1946, It’s a Wonderful Life chronicles the tale of George Bailey, a man spending his life sacrificing his own dreams for the good of others. But one Christmas Eve, when several unfortunate events conspire to leave him feeling suicidal, an unlikely hero — a guardian angel named Clarence — falls to earth and helps George recognize the value of his life by showing him an alternate reality. The film was so popular that it was re-written for the radio and broadcast in 1947 for the Lux Radio Theatre with Jimmy Stewart reprising his role as George Bailey.

Along with Romano, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Chris Bonno, Dave Cox, Erin Fitzgerald, Jen Hasty, Scott Hennelly, Dan Kinsella, David Koff, Peter Lownds, Julie Milliett, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Jon Stark, and Jake West.

Fake Radio has been delighting audiences and critics alike for over 16 years with their unique re-creations of classic radio shows. The troupe performs in the same fashion popularized during the Golden Age of Radio — actors dress in elegant clothing, stand before old microphones with scripts in hand and recreate the story while all of the sound effects are perfectly synchronized. The troupe’s well-known hallmark is expertly blending the original broadcast scripts, including the absurd commercials, with unexpected improvisation.

Tickets for It’s a Wonderful Life are $20 and may be purchased online at www.fakeradio.net or by phone at (800) 838-3006. The Steve Allen Theater is located at 4773 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, 90027.
